Progress!

Okay, so what the heck have I been doing all this time?  Well, I'll show you!  I finished the first page fairly quickly.  I know it is rather amateurish compared to my more experienced scrapbookering friends, but I'm pleased enough with it.

The journalling is as follows:

I often remember sitting with Mom when she would look at her old scrapbook.  It was such a treat to hear her tell the stories of her childhood.  The old black and white photographs would come alive.  Each card and letter held special meaning to her.  the old book has been around a long time -- clear tape and acidic paper aren't kind to old photos.  It was time for a restoration.

The next two pages have the earliest pictures of Mom.

Again, they are relatively simple and amateurish, but life goes on.  LOL  I'm sorry about the quality of the photos.  I guess I need to learn how to take better pictures of my scrapbooking efforts.

The only journalling on these pages is the little Dr. Seuss-ish poem that I wrote....The question kept coming to me about how babies were received in 1929.

As I look at these pictures,
I so want to know...
When you were new born,
Did they count fingers and toes?

Were you wrapped all in pink,
From you feet to your nose?
When you were new born,
Did they count fingers and toes?

Anyway, there it is....the beginning of the restoration of Mom's scrapbook.  Try not to laugh too hard at my attempts, okay?  LOL  Maybe the next few pages won't be as difficult for me to get through.  This is kind of a roller coaster ride of emotions pulling this all together, as you can well imagine.  On one hand it is really fun learning a new hobby and remembering so much about Mom....but on the other hand, it is sort of bittersweet.

Until the next installment.... Enjoy Life....we never know how long it will last!  :)

  4. Nice job!
I suggest you write who wrote the poem at the bottom. I didn't know it was Dr. Seuss. :)

  5. It was me....in a Dr. Seuss "voice". :)

I can imagine the LO's in a much more finished manner, but can't afford all the doo dads, etc. This is simple and kind of fitting, given the time of the subject matter.

Now, the ones I do for my kids.....by then I'll be more experienced and hopefully be able to do more with them.
